This week work is focusing on getting the sky, clouds and all those twinkly stars working. The atmospherics in AO are daunting but it needs to be there for the game to retain its unique feel. When that is done work will begin on handling the multiple ocean volumes that exist in many places…for a desert planet Rubi-Ka sure has a LOT of water. With the increased scope of supporting both clients a Christmas launch is becoming less and less likely…but a Q1 2011 launch seems relatively certain ici une réponse de Means, Game Director. |

That was one of the most demonstrated feature Also much better textures in borealis, bump mapping, specular maps, multiple shadows with many lightsources, better lighting, new heads." "Running around seemed to be less laggy after the first load, as the viewdistance now was the entire zone. From the furthest corner of Borealis you could see the trees at the other end of the zone and all the buildings in the city. Which I personally thought was some of the best part. The grass stuff was sadly bugged at the moment, but I saw it ingame sitting in just one part of the zone, and with the movement stuff combined with the addition of better lighting, shadows and very very long viewdistance on the world, AO really will look so much more alive and breathing than it is now. It's hardly comparable."

Oui.
Des nouvelles ? celle de vendredi dernier : The Engine: I am sorry if there was any confusion with the information I gave out before concerning delays. When I mentioned that this move would result in significant delays I should have specifically mentioned that this of course would also affect the engine work. We are not going to be able to release the engine in Q1 but we are still hoping for an "Early bêta" in Q1 or early Q2...but at this point it is still dependent on the release of the new version of the engine in Conan as to how much resource we will get in getting it set up and running. There are a few visual glitches (shadows, water and grass) I absolutely want repaired before we open it up...but we need external assistance in resolving those before we continue. I have to admit to being a bit critical of what I will allow outside the building with our expectations being so high. On a positive note the more time the artists get before we open it up the better the first versions will look. Work is getting close to complete on new bodies and heads and a great deal of the "high impact + most used" resources (trees rocks etc) are being upgraded at a good pace while we wait for the tech to come together. ici Ils viennent d'emménagé à Montréal, ils sont a peine installé, Early bêta dans le premier ou deuxième trimestre 2011.... |
